KOTA SAMARAHAN – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the federal cabinet had recently approved to do away with the ‘Dan Lain Lain’ (DLL) column in all government forms.
Addressing the crowd at the launch of the Sejiwa Senada Programme near the Civic Centre here today (April 16), he said a directive had been issued to the director general of National Registration Department (JPN) as well as the director of JPN Sarawak.
“The state government of Sarawak fought for this for the benefit of Bumiputeras in Sarawak. Why are we doing this? It’s because we have the people’s interest close to our hearts,†he said.
Prior to the federal cabinet’s approval, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem had already implemented the ‘no more DLL column’ as one of his 45 principles and actions last year.
Zahid noted that the state government under the leadership of Adenan was still seeking for amendments for several other government policies.
He pledged on behalf of the federal government to take the state government’s requests into consideration.
He said the prime minister’s numerous visits to the state was not just unprecedented but also went to show that the federal government appreciated the support from Sarawakians.
Zahid also observed that the state government had exercised its immigration power to bar selected politicians from entering Sarawak.
“As far as the Home Ministry is concerned, we fully support all the immigration decisions by the Sarawak state government,†he said, adding that keeping certain politicians from entering Sarawak was a means to maintain social harmony. – Bernama
