SARATOK: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak wants the people in Sarawak to give Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem a strong mandate in the coming 11th State Election.
He said that with the strong mandate, Adenan would form a state government that would guarantee political stability and would be able to negotiate with the federal government for any form of development needed in the state.
“The strong mandate is the voice of the people of Sarawak and we (the federal government) must respect the mandate given,” he said when opening the program ‘Sejiwa Senada 2016 Saratok’, here Sunday.
Also present were Adenan and his wife Puan Sri Jamilah Anu, as well as federal and state ministers.
By giving victory to the state Barisan Nasional (BN), Najib said the people of Sarawak would be able to ensure that the state and federal governments were in the same club, with one voice in ensuring that rapid development would continue to be implemented in the state.
Adenan, who was celebrating his second anniversary as the Sarawak Chief Minister yesterday, had carried out numerous changes during his tenure as the chief minister.
“The two-year duration is not sufficient for him to implement everything for the people. Give him another five years to bring more development to Sarawak,” he said.
He reminded the people that if they erred in making their choice in the next state election, whatever negotiations carried out between the state and federal governments on empowerment would face difficulty.
“The negotiation will be simple if it is done between the federal government and a strong state government under the leadership of Adenan,” he added.
