TUMPAT – The Girl Guides Association of Malaysia today donated various goods to more than 5,000 flood victims in the Pengkalan Kubor state constituency here.
Its president, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is the wife of the prime minister, handed over the goods, among them pails, towels, bathing soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and school paraphernalia.
The recipients, among them teachers and students, were badly affected by the floods which struck in December last year.
Kelantan Girl Guides Association president Datin Nik Azizah Nik Yahya; Perak Girl Guides Association president, the Raja Puan Besar of Perak, Raja Normahani Raja Shahar Shah and the wife of International Trade and Industry Minister, Datin Seri Kamarzan Ahmad Meah, were present at the event.
Also present were Pengkalan Kubor state assemblyman Mat Razi Mat Ail; Kelantan UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob and Tumpat UMNO Division acting chief Datuk Mohd Rosdi Abd Aziz.
Earlier, Rosmah handed over similar goods to 15 villagers of Kampung Tanjong Kuala here.
She also called on a villager, Che Mod (rpt) Che Mod Ismail, 53, who had lost her house to the floods.
Mat Razi, when approached after the event, said the flood-affected villagers and he were grateful for the contribution from the Girl Guides Association.
He said they appreciated the concern shown by Rosmah. – BERNAMA
