KUALA LUMPUR – The coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations of Malaysia (Gerhana) wants the authorities to take legal action against the organiser of Bersih 5 and to stop them from holding such rally in the future.
Its president, Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah urged the police, Home Ministry and the Attorney General’s Department to take legal action against Bersih 5 organiser and other non-governmental groups that instigate chaos by holding a rally.
“If the rally goes on it can create chaos and this can damage the democratic system in the country and the Malaysian government,” he told reporters here today after lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi police station. He represented 10 NGOs under the coalition.
He said they would send a memorandum to the Home Ministry to urge the authorities to take action against any group which attempted to violate the country’s laws. – BERNAMA
