SANDAKAN – Gerakan will be a formidable force in the 14th General Election (GE14), said its president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong.
He said the party had “licked its wounds” of GE13 and was now raring to face GE14.
“The leadership and grassroots (Gerakan) are one solid team now and will do their part to ensure a big victory for the Barisan Nasional in GE14,” he said when opening Sabah Gerakan’s Youth and Wanita annual delegates meeting here today.
Gerakan was nearly wiped out in GE13. The party that once held power in Penang now has only one seat in Parliament which was won by Mah in a by-election.
It also has only three state seats, one in Johor and two in Sabah.
Meanwhile, Sabah Gerakan chairman Datuk Gordon Leong Vui in his speech called for an end to politics of anger and hatred in the country saying it would be detrimental to the people and cited Sabah as an example where the people lived in harmony and solidarity. – BERNAMA
