GENTING HIGHLANDS: In the spirit of Chinese New Year, Genting Group extended a helping hand to 50 charity homes by donating RM1mil.
Genting Group chairman and chief executive officer Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay said this was in line with Gentingâ€™s corporate culture of caring for the less fortunate.
The donation is for orphanages, old folks homes and the disabled, among others.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was the guest of honour at the Chinese New Year luncheon organised by the group, presented cheques of RM20,000 each to the representatives from the charities.
Among the organisations were Agathians Shelter, Arthritis Foundation Malaysia, Diabetes Malaysia, Divine Life Society, National Council of Senior Citizens Organisation, Rumah Kasih Setapak, Rumah Sejahtera Bentong, Selangor Cheshire Home, Tasputra Perkim and Vivekananda Home in Rembau, Pahang.
Others present included Muhyiddinâ€™s wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Limâ€™s wife Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, Minister in the Prime Ministerâ€™s Department Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, Genting Berhadâ€™s executive director Tun Hanif Omar and wife Toh Puan Hamidah Abdul Hamid.-The Star
