INCHEON – Harimau Muda A (national Under-23 squad) midfielder Gary Steven Robbat (pic) and defender Brendan Gan Seng Ling may be roped in to help Harimau Malaya (national squad) in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup in Singapore and Vietnam from Nov 22 – Dec 20.
National chief coach, Dollah Salleh said they were outstanding in the second match of Group A against Laos at the Ansan Wong Stadium in South Korea at the 17th Asian Games Wednesday.
The Under-23 squad succeeded in collecting their first three points after beating Laos 4-0 yesterday and will complete the match schedule in Group A by meeting Saudi Arabia on Sunday to get a slot to the quarter finals.
“I could see the big change to the under 23 national team yesterday after Gary was brought in by coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee, and subsequently Malaysia scored three goals,” he told Bernama when met at the Athletes’ Village near here, today.
He said two players, namely, Harimau Muda team captain, Mohamad Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak and defender Mohamad Fadhli Mohd Shah had been selected to join the 2014 AFF Suzuki challenge.
In the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup, Malaysia will be in for a tough time as they are drawn in Group B with defending champions Singapore and than three-time champions Thailand. – Bernama
