IPOH: It is the gallows for a lorry attendant after the High Court on Wednesday found him guilty of murdering his neighbour, five years ago.
Judicial Commissioner S. M Komathy Suppiah handed down the sentence to M. Devinthiran, 29, after finding the defence failed to raise any doubts in the prosecution’s case.
The accused together with another person still at large had murdered K.
Perumal, 32 in front of house No. A11, Bahagian Sepong, Ladang Sungai Samak, Ulu Bernam, Hilir Perak between 9pm and 9.45pm on Nov 14, 2010.
On the day of the incident, Devinthiran and his accomplice had asked the victim, who was watching TV with his family in the living room, to come out of the house before the accused stabbed him to death with an 8.5cm-long dagger.
Murder is a capital offence in the country.
Devinthiran who was attired in a white T-shirt and blue jeans appeared calm on hearing the sentence.
Komathy, in her judgement, said the court did not believe the defence’s version in the case.
Deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffrey Ong prosecuted while Devinthiran was represented by counsel R. Viknesvaran. – Bernama
