LABUAN – Labuan will have full fourth generation (4G) high-speed broadband network coverage by year end.
Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Jailani Johari, said upgrading works were being carried out on communication stations throughout the island by the telecommunications industry players.
“We have discussed the need to upgrade telecom infrastructure here with Labuan being the international financial centre. We have telecom companies operating here. As such, Labuan should had the full 4G from 2G and 3G coverage,â€ he told reporters after attending a meeting with Labuan Corp here today.
Labuan Corp is a local authority which administers the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Jailani said to help the island have better internet accessibility, or network penetration, the 1Malaysia Internet Centre had been build in Kg Lubok Temiang and the second centre would be built soon at a location yet to be identified. – BERNAMA
