FUJIAN: A man in China had to be rescued by six firefighters after he got his head stuck in a washing machine, reported a Chinese news portal.
According to reports on Chinese news websites, the man had put his head into the machine to check on the drying drum, as he suspected something was stuck at the bottom.
But he couldn’t remove his head after that.
The incident happened last Sunday afternoon in Fuqing city in the southern province of Fujian.
The man’s flatmate tried several ways to get him out, to no avail.
The local emergency unit sent a team of firefighters to the rescue, said the reports.
The rescuers found the man lying down on the floor, with his head stuck in the machine, when they arrived at the scene.
It took them 40 minutes to dismantle the washing machine, by cutting apart the plastic exterior and then the drying drum.
He was covered during parts of the rescue to protect him from sparks as the machine was being cut open, the report said.
The man, who was unnamed, suffered only minor scratches on the head.
Last month, a two-year-old boy from Sichuan province was rescued after he got stuck while climbing into a washing machine, said the the news portal. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
