JOHOR BAHRU – Four men reported missing last Wednesday while travelling to Terengganu were found dead today in an overturned car in a stream in Kota Tinggi, police said.
Johor Police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said passers-by spotted the Honda Accord in the stream in an oil palm plantation and notified the police at 8.10am.
“A police team, with the assistance of Fire and Rescue and Department of Civil Defence personnel, hauled the car out of the stream and found the bodies of four men in it,” he told reporters here.
Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the police were trying to find out how the car ended up in the stream but did not suspect foul play.
The bodies had been brought to the Mersing Hospital, he said.
It had been reported that four men, all aged 21, had gone missing while on their way to Terengganu for a holiday from their homes in Bandar Seri Alam here.
They were identified as Luqman Jainie, Abu Izzani Abu Bakar, Nik Shakir Zufayri and Muhammad Asyraf Isa.
According to a police report made by relatives, the four men had left Bandar Seri Alam in a Honda Accord car at 9.30pm for Terengganu.
They were to have travelled via Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Rompin, but their final destination had yet to be ascertained.
At about 11.30pm, calls made to their mobile phones went unanswered. – BERNAMA
