KANGAR – The police have arrested 10 people, among them four members of a family, for suspected involvement in a burglary at a mobile phone and computer store here, said Perlis Police deputy chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa.
The four family members were a man, his son, daughter and son-in-law, he said, adding that they had previous criminal records and tested positive for methamphetamine.
All the 10, aged between 16 and 46, were picked up at several locations after a trader lodged a report of a burglary at his shop in Taman Seri Tambun, Jalan Padang Behor, here on Feb 10.
In his report, the trader told police he found the back door prised open when he opened for business at 9.15 am on Feb 11.
Md Zukir said that upon checking, the trader found 21 units of mobile phones and 16 laptops, worth about RM16,000, missing.
He said the Perlis Police Criminal Special Task Force investigating the case arrested two men and a woman from Kodiang near the Perlis border on Feb 25.
“The arrest led to the capture of seven more men and the seizure of the stolen items as well as a Perodua Viva in Kodiang and Alor Setar.
“All of them are being remanded until March 16 for investigation,” said Md Zukir. – BERNAMA
