GEORGE TOWN – A form two student of a boarding school in Kepala Batas near here sustained head and body injuries following an attack by a group of about 15 form four students of the school early Saturday morning.
Seberang Perai Utara District police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 14-year-old student lodged a police report on the incident about 8.50 last night after seeking treatment at a clinic in Kepala Batas.
He said according to the student, the incident occurred about 3am on the third floor corridor of the school’s hostel for males.
“The attack was believed to have been caused by a misunderstanding whereby, a form four student was allegedly insulted and ridiculed,” he added here today.
Noorzainy said the form four student had informed about 30 of his friends before about 15 of them struck, slapped and kicked the victim and three other form two students who sustained bruises and scratches on the body and legs.
“Earlier today, we recorded statements from several students believed to have been involved in the attack. They were later freed on police bail.”
Meanwhile in another development, a man was seriously injured following an attack by a group of youths in Mak Mandik near here early yesterday.
Noorzainy said the assailants armed with machetes and samurai sword had confronted the 30-year-old victim about 3.20am, in front of an entertainment centre in Jalan Ong Yi How. – BERNAMA
