JERANTUT – Each household affected by floods will receive RM500 while the families of those killed in the natural disaster will get RM5,000 each.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the special cash assistance would be disbursed from next week.
He said all the agencies involved had been asked to expedite the process of registering the victims, including those who did not move to relief centres, and collect the data on losses they suffered.
“If possible, we want to have all the information by next week, except for the areas where the victims have yet to return home,” he said after chairing the state post-flood action plan coordinating meeting here today.
Muhyiddin also said that schools which are still being used as a relief centre could be opened on a later date and the decision would be made by the state education department.
At present, he said 34 schools in Pahang are still housing flood evacuees while another 18 schools are in Perak and four in Kelantan. – NST
