ALOR SETAR – The flood evacuation centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Changlun, where more than 11 families from Kampung Nang Mah, Pekan Changlun, were sheltered yesterday, was closed at 8.30 am today.
Civil Defence Department officer in Kubang Pasu, Kamarulzaman Kasa said the flood victims, about 40 of them, were allowed to return to their houses after the flood water in the village receded.
The evacuation centre was opened about 9 pm yesterday.
He said the water level at Sungai Changlun had receded and was at the safe level as at 10.30 am today.
Yesterday, more than 1,000 residents from eight villages were reportedly affected by floods following heavy rain.
The villages are Kampung Paya Nomi, Kampung Belukar, Kampung Rantau, Pekan Changlun, Kampung Sungai Petani, Taman Rasa Sayang, Kampung Bendang Ceruk and Kampung Padang Pasir involving 600 houses.
