We all love a good, crisp white shirt– so much that it has become every woman’s closet staple. But elegance does come with a price, as you can’t do anything without staining your shirt.
But what if we told you that there is a white shirt that will actually repel any form of liquid? Which means, you can accidentally spill coffeeof chilli sauce on your shirt without getting it dirty.
Cue in: the “Unstainable” White Shirt by U.S. budget clothing line,Elizabeth & Clarke.
Using nanotechnology, the hydrophobic material actually dispels the liquid element that are not in complement with it by disrupting the hydrogen bond present in water, thus push away the molecules from the material’s surface to protect its structural integrity. The result? Waterproofing at the molecular level.
According to the company’s co-founder Melanie Moore, the shirt took about six months of testing and trial and error basically to find the best combination of fabric, handfeel, and repellency.
“The innovation here is the ability to use this finish on delicate fabrics like silk and cotton while still maintaining an incredibly soft hand feel,” she told Fastcodesign.com.
The company promises that its products will last anywhere from two to 10 years, depending on the cut you buy, how often you wear it, and how you treat it. Apparently ironing only helps reinforce the material’s hydrophobic properties, so those who hate wrinkles will be well-rewarded for their efforts.
The shirts are on Kickstarter now. Pledge $25 (RM88.66) for a tee and $40 (RM141.85) for a blouse. The products will ship in September of this year. Lord knows we’re going to buy these in bulk when it finally reaches its $500k (RM1,773,100) crowd-funding.-MYNEWSHUB.CC
