SINGAPORE – The finals of the first day of the fifth leg of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup 2015 in Singapore have been cancelled due to the weather condition Saturday.
In a statement, the organisers said this was due to the high level of haze in the swimming complex.
It said the level of haze in the venue surpassed the limit established by the Singapore government.
“The athletes, officials and spectators’ health is the top priority for FINA, therefore the finals scheduled at 6pm were cancelled.
“The programme of the second day on Sunday is in principle confirmed but a further weather condition evaluation one hour before the heats and one hour before the finals will be made,” said the statement.
The 24-hour pollution standard index at 5 pm was 144 to 182, in the unhealthy range, while the three-hour PSI was 222.
