KUALA LUMPUR – Reigning Super League champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) continued to made an early preparation for the 2018 Malaysian League by announcing the inclusion of former Argentina international, Luciano Figueroa back into their main team.
JDT sporting director, Martin Prest said the decision made by the 36-year to come out of retirement after hanging up his boot at the end of 2015, would certainly be a major boost for the Southern Tigers squad to chase for more glory next season.
“He is our legend here and also our club ambassador. It’s an honour to have him here with us. His experience and hard work will be an example to all our players.
“He’s been working hard on his fitness with us over the last couple of months, and continuing working hard in Argentina,” Prest was quoted as saying in the latest entry posted in JDT official Facebook page.
Luciano or fondly known as Lucho among his teammates, had won several titles during his tenure with JDT including winning back-to-back Super League titles in 2014 and 2015 besides the Charity Shield cup and the AFC cup in 2015.
