GEORGE TOWN – Despite losing four of his family members in a tragic fire incident last year, the spirit to fight for the people in Lim Swee Bok, is still burning.
Lim, 37, whose nickname is ‘Ah Bok’ and who was revealed today as Barisan Nasional (BN)’s pick for Pengkalan Kota said nothing would stop him from serving the people especially in his own constituency.
“I was born and raised here, and I know what is best for the people. Serving and aiding the people is what I aim to do,” he said.
Aspiring to bring the people together despite various divides, Lim said every change must start from home and Pengkalan Kota had always been his home.
As the majority of his voters are the elderly, Lim said he would do his utmost to get them the best possible assistance and facilities.
On Nov 17 last year, Ah Bok’s family perished after being trapped in their burning house at Pintasan Cecil 5, Pengkalan Weld.
By the time help arrived, it was too late, and his two children, wife and mother were pronounced dead by the authorities.
Acknowledging that the election would not be an easy fight, Lim said no matter what the outcome was, his heart would always be for the people.
“It’s not an easy seat especially as I will be facing DAP but I will do the best that I can,” he said.
Lim will be launching his manifesto for the people of Pengkalan Kota in a few days and will kick start his campaign this Saturday.
A four-cornered fight awaits him as DAP, Malaysian United Party (MU) and Malaysian People’s Party (PRM) have also named their candidates for the seat. – BERNAMA
