KUALA LUMPUR – Felda United FC (FUFC) and Kedah have qualified for the 2014 Malaysia Cup semi-finals after the conclusion of the second leg quarter-finals Friday night.
FUFC were tied 3-3 with 32-time champions, Selangor in the second quarter-final match at Temerloh Municipality Council Stadium in Pahang tonight and qualified with a 7-3 aggregate score.
Felda chalked up an easy 4-0 win over Selangor in the first leg in Shah Alam on Oct 3.
In the match tonight the Red Giants opened the score via Paulo Rangel in the 30th minute while Edward Junior Wilson (pic) equalised for Felda in the 48th minute.
Four minutes later, Andik Vermansah slotted in Selangor’s second goal and Rangel was on target again in the 62nd minute to put Selangor three up.
Edward replied for Felda seven minutes later before Indra Putra Mahayuddin pushed in Felda’s third goal in the 85th minute.
At Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah blasted 2013 Malaysia Cup runner-up Kelantan 3-0 to qualify for the semi-final on a 4-3 aggregate.
Kelantan won 3-1 in the first leg at Sultan Muhammad Ke-IV Stadium in Kota Baharu on Oct 3.
In the match tonight Mohd Hanif Md Dzahir of Kedah opened the score in the 42nd minute while captain Baddrol Bakhtiar slotted in the second goal 10 minutes later.
Muhd Syafiq Ahmad sealed the match for Kedah with a goal in the 88th minute.
Police and Pahang will meet in their second leg encounter at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow while Johor Darul Ta’zim and Terengganu will square off at Larkin Stadium on Oct 16. – Bernama
