SHAH ALAM – Felda United beat Negros Ceres 3-0 in a Group G match of the AFC Cup competition at Shah Alam Stadium, here today.
The big win over the Philippines club is the first win for the fledgling Felda United side.
Felda United got the match to a great start when Muhammad Syahid Zaidon fired a shot from outside the penalty box in the 6th minute to beat Ceres Negros goalkeeper Roland Muller.
Felda United, who dominated the match, led 1-0 at half time.
After the break, Felda United continued their offensive and were rewarded when Mohamad Hadin Azman latched onto a cross to score the second goal in the 65th minute.

Meanwhile, Felda United head coach B. Sathianathan described the team’s performance as below par despite the 3-0 win.
“There are still many weaknesses that needs to be fixed. The players still lack discipline during the game.
“I am confident that we can advance to the second round. The match against Tampines Rovers will determine our direction,” he said at a press conference after the match today.
Meanwhile, Ceres Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic admitted that Felda United were the better side.
“Felda United got a very good goal at the start of the game and this forced us to change the game plan. However, their second goal killed the game.”
Felda have five points and share the lead with Ceres Negros in Group G after four matches.
However, the table will change after match between Tampines Rovers of Singapore and Hanoi of Vietnam tonight. – BERNAMA
