KUALA LUMPUR – The Federal Territory (FT) Barisan Nasional (BN) today launched a special manifesto for the 14th General Election (GE14) containing 65 initiatives to ensure FT residents enjoy the benefits of development in line with the national economic growth.
FT BN chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the manifesto with the theme ‘People’s Aspiration, Our Agenda’ contained five major thrusts namely My Territory is Developed, Prosperous, Comfortable, Peace and Cheerful (Wilayahku Maju, Sejahtera, Selesa, Aman dan Ceria).
“In line with the people’s aspiration, the agenda of the Federal Territory BN manifesto aims to fullfl the needs of all strata of society in keeping with the main BN manifesto announced by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) previously,” he said when launching the manifesto at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
Under My Territory is Developed or ‘Wilayahku Maju’, the FT BN pledged to drive economic development and diversify business and economic opportunities including offering business sites to 10,000 food truck operators.
Tengku Adnan said the FT BN would also restructure applications for business licences to provide opportunities to entrepreneurs from the younger generation.
For the second thrust namely My Territory is Prosperous, Tengku Adnan said the FT BN pledged to empower social and educational quality including providing free school bus services to 12,000 students staying at the People’s Housing Projects (PPR) and the Public Housing Projects (PPA).
The FT BN also pledged to organise wedding receptions free of charge to ease the burden of the low-income youths to start a new family life, with the target of 100 couples feted each year.
On the third thrust, My Territory is Comfortable, Tengku Adnan said the FT BN would continue its endeavour to provide affordable homes which were conducive and well maintained by building 20,000 Federal Territory Homes (Rumahwip) for the middle-income group.
“For the fourth thrust, the Federal Territory is Peaceful, we will create a safe neighbourhood by installing 10,000 lights at public parks and ensure that there are zero foreigners living in PPR and PPA,”he said.
On the fifth thrust of My Territory is Cheerful, the BN government was committed to empower the provision of infrastructure through the initiative of increasing the construction of multi-level parking especially in housing areas with a high population density and widening the feeder bus services in housing areas, LRT and MRT stations
On the FT BN Pledge in the last general election, Tengku Adnan said almost all that had been promised in the manifesto in GE13 had been successfully implemented and fulfilled.
These included the construction of 88,917 Rumawip which exceeded the original target which was only 80,000 units and assisted 1,496 homeless people by providing temporary accommodation and facilities at the Pusat Transit Gelandangan Kuala Lumpur with 563 of them succeeded in gaining employment.
“As a responsible government and one that fulfills its promises, we have succeeded in implementing almost all our pledges in the whole Federal Territory including in Parliamentary constituencies which are not ours,”he added. – BERNAMA
