SANDAKAN – The federal government has assisted and contributed a lot to providing assets to enhance security control in Sabah, especially in its east coast area.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said this was the result of close cooperation between the federal and state governments.
“The prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has assisted much and given big allocations towards providing security assets to this state, particularly in the east coast zone.
“The state government is grateful for the federal government’s commitment to efforts in raising the security level further in Sabah,” he told a press conference after the handing-over of duty to the commander of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom), here, today.
At the ceremony, DCP Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid who has reached compulsory retirement, handed over duty to his successor, DCP Datuk Hazani Ghazali.
Musa said the capability and strength of ESSCom in looking after the state’s security and sovereignty for the wellbeing of the people could not be denied.
He said this could also raise public and tourists’ confidence in the state’s security.
Meanwhile, Musa who is also the State Security Council chairman, said the state government and the people of Sarawak were thankful to the services and sacrifices of the security forces, especially ESSCom, all this while.
“I wish to state my appreciation and thanks to Wan Abdul Bari, a dedicated and widely experienced senior police officer in serving as ESSCom commander, and I believe ESSCom’s good work and success will continue under its new commander (Hazani),” he said. – BERNAMA
