KOTA KINABALU – The federal government has allocated RM70 million to meet the cost of transporting goods to the interior areas of Sabah this year, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
He said the allocation was being provided to ensure that the cost of goods in the Sabah interior was low so that the people in these areas could afford them.
“Actually, these goods don’t cost that much. It’s the middlemen who take advantage to make huge profits,” he said at the “Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat” carnival and Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) Biz Fair (business fair) here.
The programme was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Musa said the carnival, which offered goods at low prices, would be able to boost the economy of the state and the purchasing power. – BERNAMA
