KINABATANGAN – A man and his 19-year-old daughter were killed after their four-wheel drive vehicle and a lorry collided at KM103 of the Sandakan-Lahad Datu road, yesterday.
Kinabatangan district police chief, Supt A. Sahak Rahmat said Lim Gek Liang, 58, and his daughter Lim Sar Yun, died on the spot in the accident which occurred at 5.05pm.
The accident at Kampung Perpaduan Kinabatangan is believed to have happened when the vehicle driven by Gek Liang from Sandakan heading for Lahad Datu skidded and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into the oncoming tanker lorry.
The bodies of the victims were removed from the mangled 4WD vehicle by firemen from Kinabatangan, said Sahak when contacted by Bernama, today.
The bodies were sent to Kinabatangan Hospital, while the 43-year-old lorry driver who had chest injury was sent to the same hospital for treatment. – Bernama
