KUCHING – The remains of father and daughter who died in an accident involving a school bus and a lorry at Km12, Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri on Monday were buried in one grave at the Kampung Kolong 1 Muslim cemetery, Matang here today.
The victim’s second child Abdul Aziz Remnelan, 25, said it was hard for all of his family members to accept that his father and younger sister had died.
He said the last time he met his father and his sister was about 5.30 am yesterday before they both left for school.
“Father did not show any strange behaviour. Neither did my sister except that she was very excited to go to school after she was appointed a school prefect recently,” he told reporters when met here.
In the 6.12 am incident, the bus driven by the victim Remnelan Samat, 55, slammed into the back of the lorry which had broken down by the side of the road.
The victim and another victim Aien Laila Alesha Abdullah,11, who were impaled by an iron pipe rod, died at the scene while his daughter Nurnadia Syakila, 9, died while receiving treatment at the Bintulu Hospital.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said police had detained the 28-year-old lorry driver and the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – BERNAMA
