KUALA LUMPUR – The FA of Malaysia (FAM) is allowing all M-League teams to field four import players simultaneously in a match from the next season.
FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said FAM took the decision following the majority of teams in the M-League asking for this.
“The teams can field four international players including one from Asia unlike before when only three import players were allowed (to be fielded simultaneously). This will make the M-League more competitive and exciting.
“Local players will have to work harder and fight for their place in the first eleven,” Tengku Abdullah told a press conference after a chairing a special meeting of FAM’s Executive Committee here Friday.
The M-League next season will begin with the Charity Shield match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Pahang at Stadium Tan Sri Hassan Yunos in Larkin, Johor on Jan 31. – Bernama
