JOHOR BAHRU – Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a company manager on suspicion of submitting false claims to the Segamat Branch of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) three years ago.
The 37-year-old suspect was arrested at about 3 pm today at the Johor MACC Segamat Branch when he gave his statement to facilitate investigation into the case.
MACC, in a statement here today, said initial investigation revealed that the suspect was believed to have submitted false claims, totalling RM8,000, to the Segamat AADK for supply works under AADK programme, which in actual fact had never been implemented.
MACC also raided the suspect’s office at Taman Utama Segamat, near here in connection with the supply works.
The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which provides for a fine of five times the amount of the bribe or RM 10,000, whichever is higher and imprisonment not exceeding 20 years upon conviction.
