LABUAN – The Labuan branch of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) is satisfied with the reasonable price of dishes and goods at Ramadan bazaars throughout the island.
The agency has so far inspected a total of 213 stalls at five Ramadan bazaars in the island, namely in Ujana Kewangan (40 stalls), Labuan Walk (96 stalls), Labuan Central Market ( 21 stalls), Sg. Bedaun (30 stalls) and Jalan Mawar (26 stalls).
Labuan KPDNKK enforcement chief Mohd Fikri Lai Abdullah said based on the inspections carried out from May 17 to 19 at the five Ramadan bazaars, the agency had not detected any extreme price hikes.
“There are only minimal increases of 10 per cent for certain food products. However, some (prices) have also gone down,” he told Bernama today.
Fikri said the inspection was to ensure hawkers were in full compliance with the price tagging requirements under the Price Control Order (Indication of Price by Retailer) 1993.
“Traders found to have refused to place price labels, even after being given advice and notices to comply with regulations, shall be liable to a compound,” he said, adding that no official complaints received so far. – BERNAMA
