KUALA TERENGGANU – Malaysians irrespective of race and religion have been encouraged to express their patriotism by flying the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) to mark ‘Merdeka’ (Independence Day).
Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said the people could display the flag at their homes or business premises and so forth.
“We should capitalise on this opportunity to bring to mind and appreciate the struggles of our leaders who made it possible for us to achieve independence,” he said.
Jailani who is also Hulu Terengganu member of parliament said this after launching a Merdeka programme in Manir here last night.
At the event, 10,000 flags were distributed to the public for display during the month-long celebration. – BERNAMA
