MIRI – An express boat plying the mighty Baram River is being utilised to deliver bulky amounts of food aid to interior settlements in flood-hit Baram district in northern Sarawak.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department in its latest report Sunday (Feb 11) said an express boat from Marudi town was used to deliver some 385 packs of food aid (each weighing about 16kg).
The food aid was for folks in Long Panai settlement which is located about six hours away by river transport from Marudi town.
The State Fire and Rescue Department is also using its rescue boats and helicopter to carry out the food aid delivery mission in various parts of this vast state that are facing flood woes.
They ply the riverine towns and remote riverine settlements located inside the deep jungles. – The Star Online
