KUALA LUMPUR – Film director Erma Fatima today retracted the divorce petition she filed against her husband in May at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court, here.
This was revealed by her attorney Jamal Mohd Lokman Sulaiman who had represented Erma Fatima on the matter before Syarie Judge Mohamad Zaid Abdul Aziz.
“The court had previously ordered both parties to appoint a member each from their immediate family as members of a reconciliation committee (JKP) in the divorce case.
“However, the plaintiff (Erma Fatima) today agreed to retract the divorce petition to give her husband a chance to make amends,” the lawyer said.
Erma Fatima, whose real name is Fatimah Rahmad, 47, and her husband, Bade or Badaruddin Azmi, 51, were not present in court today.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, the lawyer said the couple had amicably discussed matters over three weeks, and have reached an agreement as well as a positive outcome.
Erma Fatima filed the petition for divorce under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.
The couple got married on November 30, 1990, and has five adopted children. – BERNAMA
