ISKANDAR PUTERI – An engineer who was on his way home from Singapore suffered multiple wounds and cuts after he was beaten by five men at the Tanjung Kupang R&R here.
The 40-year-old victim and his wife stopped at the rest area at about 1.30am yesterday when they were cornered by the five men, who were in three vehicles.
The culprits then took turns punching and hitting him with a baseball bat.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said the victim was beaten up for a few minutes before his wife’s screams prompted the suspects to stop the assault.
“The suspects fled the scene soon after. We are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing hurt using a dangerous weapon.
“We are hunting for the five suspects,” he told pressmen after attending a blood donation drive campaign and crime prevention programme at a shopping mall here.
Police are also investigating whether the assailants have personal problems with the victim.
“We have identified the registration number plates of the three vehicles driven by the suspects.
“Two of them have Singaporean plates,” he said. – The Star Online
