KUALA LUMPUR – The country’s challenge in the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier Championship ended Friday when the women’s doubles pair of Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei went down in the quarter-finals.
They suffered a 21-3, 21-10 beating at the hands of China’s Xia Huan-Tian Qing in just 29 minutes despite the strong backing of local supporters.
However, they regained their rhythm early in the second set but the pair from China were not giving chances before winning 21-10.
“It was very disappointing because there were too many mistakes. We lost focus because we wanted to show good performance in front of the supporters,” said Hoo after the match.
The China pair will meet Korean pair Chang Ye Na and Jung Kyung Eun in the semi-finals tomorrow.
