PUTRAJAYA: Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte, who is in Malaysia on a one-day official visit, was accorded an official welcome at the Dataran Perdana today.
The premier, here to discuss the ongoing probe into the MH17 tragedy, was greeted by his counterpart Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak upon his arrival at 10.04am, before the national anthems of both countries were played.
Rutte then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by 106 officers and men from the 1st Batallion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, other cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats and senior government officials.
Rutte and Najib then proceeded for a four-eyed meeting to discuss the existing cooperation and matters of interest to both nations.
The two leaders are also expected to meet with the Malaysian officials involved in the MH17 recovery operations after their meeting.
Later, Rutte will attend an official luncheon hosted by Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, at the prime minister’s residence, Seri Perdana, here.-NST
