Durian Thieves Slash Orchard Owner

SUNGAI PETANI: A durian orchard owner (pic) who confronted several durian thieves who had trespassed into his orchard sustained serious slash wounds on his left arm.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Police (ACP) Md Zukir Md Isa said: “The incident occurred at about 5am at a plantation in Kampung Panjang, Gurun, and the victim identified as Teoh Seng Koon, 44, was slashed and warded at a private hospital”.

“Three to four men were involved in the incident,”he said.

A source said the victim was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital awaiting surgery for the deep cuts on his left arm.

ACP Md Zukir said, the victim received a call at 3am from one of his employees saying that the orchard was trespassed by a few men.

“The workers didn’t come out from their quarters.

“Therefore the victim was said to have rushed to the orchard and was going on his rounds when he bumped into the men.

“A struggle took place between Teoh and the suspects which resulted in him being slashed by a sharp object .”

“The victim tried to run away from the men but he fell down, dislocating his hip bone,” he said.

ACP Md Zukir said the victim managed to call the Bedong’s Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) for help but when the squad arrived, the thieves had already fled.

The injured victim was later rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital to receive treatment and was later transferred to a private specialist hospital in Aman Jaya for further treatment.
