MELAKA – Three unemployed men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with two counts of trafficking in more than 200kg of methamphetamine.
Saw Boon Kee, 33; Kuan Hsieng Sieng, 31; and Chin Gia Lin, 46, nodded to indicate they understood the charges read to them in mandarin by the court interpreter.
However, no plea were recorded from them as the cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh set April 23 for next mention.
The trio are jointly accused of trafficking in 62,543gm of methamphetamine at a house, No 273 in Jalan Belia 15, Taman Belia Antarabangsa, Ayer Keroh here, at 4 pm on March 3 this year.
On the second charge, they are jointly accused of trafficking in 138,778 gm of methamphetamine at the same house, time and date.
The charges are framed under Section 39B(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor N.Sivashangari appeared for the prosecution while the three accused were represented by counsel Low Wei Loke. – BERNAMA
