PETALING JAYA: DRB Hicom FC are happy with the 0-0 draw against PKNS FC in a Premier League match at Petaling Jaya Municipal Council Stadium here, yesterday.
Its assistant coach, Hamizar Hamzah said the one point collected is very valuable as it will improve their position in the Premier League table.
“Alhamdulillah, we managed to win one point. Both teams were evenly matched. We lacked finishing in front of goal,” he told reporters after the match.
Hamizar is optimistic that DRB Hicom can grab all three points against whipping boys Penang at Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka on April 26.
Meanwhile, PKNS FC coach E.Elavarasan admitted that the DRB Hicom defence was solid and this prevented his side from scoring.
He acknowledged the absence of striker Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh who was suspended six months by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
Wleh was found guilty of violent behavior towards a referee in a FA Cup match against Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) at Pasir Gudang Municipal Council Stadium on Feb 28.
“We don’t want to sign a new player as he may not provide similar impact. This will also incur additional cost,” he added.
Meanwhile, PKNS FC team manager Mahfizul Rushdin Abdul Rashid said they are still waiting for a show cause letter from FAM before appealing Wleh’s suspension.
“I understand that the show cause letter is ready and they are only waiting for the time to hand it over to us,” he said, adding that Wleh remains part of ‘The Red Ants’ squad.
