KANGAR – Assoc Prof Dr Mohamad Asri Zainul Abidin,44, today started work as the Perlis ‘mufti’ for the second time.
The Penang-born Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) lecturer last held the post of Perlis ‘mufti’ from 2006 to 2008.
After completing his tenure as Perlis ‘mufti’, Mohamad Asri returned to USM as a lecturer until he was offered to become the ‘mufti’ for the second time.
Mohamad Asri’s said he took up the post as a challenge to enhance Islam and ensure that Muslims in Perlis continue to hold fast to the ‘Sunnah Waljemaah.’
His appointment was consented by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, who is also the Chancellor of USM. – BERNAMA
