PEKAN – The presence of Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Felda Chini here today, failed to attract the attention of the people of Pekan.
The former prime minister’s first programme at the home of a resident of Kampung Gumum which involved a meeting with the orang asli community attracted only about 50 residents.
Dr Mahathir, who is also chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), next went for the ‘ceramah perdana’ (political talks) in Felda Chini 2 here which started at 8.30pm.
A mere 500 people turned up.
The ‘ceramah perdana’ also involved PH party leaders at state and national levels. Among them were Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu, Leong Ngah Ngah (DAP), Ronnie Liu (DAP), Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (PPBM) and National Felda Settlers’ Children’s Association (Anak) president Mazlan Aliman.
Pekan is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s parliamentary constituency.
Dr Mahathir in his speech earlier, admitted his visit to the region was aimed at urging the people to change the government in the coming general election. – BERNAMA
