NILAI – Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to launch the Tuan Guru Mohd Yassin Muhammad Islamic Leadership Chair at the Main Hall of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), here on Wednesday.
USIM’s Strategic Communications Centre official Zaini Othman said the chair, established in collaboration with the Nurul Yaqeen Foundation whose chairman is the Deputy Prime Minister himself, is located at USIM’s Faculty of Leadership and Management with an initial fund of RM500,000 for a period of one year.
“Universiti Sains Malaysia’s (USM) former vice-chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak was appointed the first holder of the chair beginning last August.
“Named after the father of the Deputy Prime Minister, it is a recognition for the leadership qualities of the Tuan Guru who was progressive, proactive and had the ability to champion the interests of the Malay agenda and Islamic development in Malaysia during his lifetime particularly through education and administration,” he said in a statement here Monday. – BERNAMA
