KUANTAN – The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has reminded all mosque and the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) administrators not to turn mosques or suraus as political platforms.
Citing the recent Selangor mosque incident as an example, he firmly reminded that the sanctity of the mosques and suraus in the state should always be maintained.
“Everyone should be aware that the mosque is a place of worship for followers of Islam and where we learn the teachings of Islam … not for other worldly matters,” he said.
He said this at an iftar dinner with the public where he presented contributions to the needy in the community at Masjid Tengku Abdullah Peramu near here.
Also present was his wife Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah who also presented gifts to 350 deserving recipients from around Peramu, Kuantan.
A total of 314 fishermen also received a living allowance from the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) at the event. – BERNAMA
