MALACCA – An Islamic scholar has welcomed the apology by the organiser of the controversial “I Want to Touch A Dog” event which was held in Bandar Utama last week.
Federal Territories mufti Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said such event should not be held again in the future by any quarters.
“Maintaining the sensitivity of Muslims in the country that holds to the principle beliefs of the Imam Shafie is vital to avoid any disharmony and unrest among the community,” he said after delivering his keynote address at a seminar organised by the Malay Islamic World (DMDI) here today.
Zulkifli said he will issue a “Bayan lil-nas” (Guideline for people) in the next few days to explain the issue.
The organiser, Syed Azmi Alhabshi had apologised yesterday for the misconceptions and confusion arising from the event held on Oct 19. – NST Online
