PUTRAJAYA – The family of a woman whose picture was taken by a female doctor while giving birth to a baby at a labour room in a Johor Baharu hospital recently, can take action against the culprit.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Karim said the doctor had humiliated the woman’s dignity and direspected her privacy as the patient’s private parts were visible in the picture.
“The picture was later circulated via social media, causing embarassment to the patient and tarnishing her image.
“It is against ethics of the medical practitioner and also inappropriate to take such pictures as it could give a negative perception of the hospital,” she told reporters after chairing the Women Advisory and Consultative Council’s brainstorming session here Tuesday.
She was asked to comment on the recent incident during which, the doctor had even flashed a ‘peace’ sign to the camera.
Rohani also advised the public to stop circulating the picture as it brought embarrasessment to the patient concerned.
