MARAN – The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has urged the people to remain calm and not to over react to political developments in the country.
Expressing concern, he said the parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy adopted by Malaysia had become the strength and cornerstone of peace and harmony.
“The process to strengthen this system is in progress. This system must be retained despite disagreement from the ideology and the political angle.
“We should not become divided and should be reunited,” he told reporters when attending the Aidilfitri event of the Human Resource Ministry here, today.
Also present were Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot and his deputy, Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib.
Tengku Abdullah said the people should give Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak the space to resolve the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.
“They have to understand what is being felt by the prime minister. Put ourselves in his shoes. Nobody can remain calm if many of the accusations and facts are incorrect.
He believed the 1MDB issue had been manipulated by certain individuals.
“Be patient and wait until the 1MDB investigation is completed and the report released,” he said.
The issue should be studied and resolved so that those responsible would be brought to justice.
At the event, Tengku Abdullah presented a Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) cheque for RM181,198 to five recipients from Maran district. – BERNAMA
