PETALING JAYA- DNA analysis of burnt victims of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz school fire is going on smoothly, and is expected to be completed this afternoon.
The painstaking process is being conducted by the Department of Chemistry Malaysia, which will release the complete DNA reports on all the bodies.
According to a source, the Department’s staff has been working since 6pm yesterday, immediately after obtaining the victims’ as well as next-of-kin’s DNA samples at the lab.
“As of 8.30am, 95 per cent of the processes have been completed and we expect it to be done by this afternoon.
“Samples, in the form of bone fragments from the victims and blood samples from family members’ were given to us,” said the source.
The source added that 86 samples are involved in the entire process and that the DNA reports will be handed over to the authorities upon completion. -NST
