SHAH ALAM: A depressed woman leaped and drowned in a lake in Section 14 here, in an apparent suicide, said police.
Her father later told rescuers that his 29-year-old daughter had been suffering from depression and had been expressing concerns to her parents of her not being married yet.
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said that police were alerted by members of the public near the Darul Ehsan building, that a woman dressed in a yellow shirt and blue jeans had leaped into a lake along Jalan Masjid at about 4pm, Tuesday.
Fire and Rescue Department officers were deployed to the scene to pull the woman out of the lake.
She was declared dead at the scene, soon after.
â€œHer father told us that she had been suffering depression and emotional instability for awhile.
â€œThe woman had several times expressed her disappointment to her mother that she was still unmarried.
â€œHer body was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for a post-mortem.
â€œThe case is classified as sudden death,â€ said ACP Azisman.-The Star
