KUANTAN – The Defence Ministry will upgrade 38 schools at military camps in stages to ensure that children of officers and military staff get better educational facilities.
Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said at the same time, the ministry would also ensure the teaching force at these schools were the best so that the schools could excel.
“I want to make sure that these schools are on par with others out there, which would be a relief to the parents who are busy defending the country,” he said in a press conference held after a gathering with members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) at the Kuantan Air Force Base here today.
Also present were MAF chief, General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor; Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) Chief, Tan Sri Affendi Buang and Defence Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Mohd Radzi.
Earlier, Hishammuddin officiated the handing-over ceremony of house keys to 94 recipients comprising TUDM officers and members under the Kuala Lumpur Air Base Relocation Project.
The Armed Forces Family Homes project was started in April 2013 and completed last January.
In a separate development, Hishammuddin who is UMNO vice-president, advised party leaders who were not chosen as candidates in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9 to accept the decision and take it as a test. – BERNAMA
