KUALA LUMPUR – There are 12 large-scale projects in the federal capital that have been abandoned for six to 18 years.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said most of these abandoned projects were commercial buildings such as hotels and mixed development such as hotel and office space in the same property.
He said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) took a serious view of projects not completed as scheduled and it would be negotiating with the developers involved to help them resume the respective projects.
“DBKL is prepared to immediately consider applications for amendments to previously approved plans,” he told reporters after visiting Quill City Mall, here, yesterday.
Ahmad Phesal said abandoned projects had a negative impact in terms of cleanliness of the areas and safety of the residents nearby. – Bernama
