SUBANG JAYA – A man who had claimed to be a “Datuk Seri” has surrendered himself to the police to assist with investigations into a cheating syndicate.
“The suspect surrendered on Sunday (April 1) and called himself a Datuk Seri. We are currently verifying this. The suspect however confessed to being involved in the case,” said ACP Mohammad Azlin in a statement on Monday (April 2).
District OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said that the 49-year-old suspect was wanted for running a cheating syndicate that collected donations.
He said that the syndicate was thought to have collected money that was supposed to have gone to old folks homes.
ACP Mohammad Azlin added that two suspects were nabbed last August following police surveillance of them. – The Star Online
